Justin the cabinet installer was busy all day, and we are so grateful and impressed.  He installed all of the crown molding, the light rail, and the toe kick.  Impeccable work.

All of the doors and drawer faces are built, but they need some time on the drum sander and then a coat of primer.  Should be painting everything by middle of the week.

More drawers put in place.

I cannot properly express how impressed and pleased I am with the quality of the materials and the workmanship.  The maple veneer interiors are flawless.

My dream island.  Large and perfectly laid out for prep work and cleanup efficiency.  From right to left...dishwasher pocket; sink base; trash/recycling pullout with drawer above; and 3-drawer stack.

4 ft x 9 ft island!  Woot!!

The outer island bases will contain a couple of shelves each, which is great added storage.

Justin the installer remarked that "it's not a big kitchen, but it's huge."  That is a high compliment coming from a cabinet pro!  It certainly does "play" bigger than it looks.

Surprise!

So I rolled up to the site about 3:45 PM today, and...holy smokes we have cabinets!!

We also have a finished screened porch floor.

This porch is huge...we need some new outdoor furniture!

So excited that my pics are blurry.  Dang it!

Some cabinet construction specifics: all plywood boxes with natural maple veneers inside (clear-coat finish); solid maple faces, frames, and doors; dovetail drawer joinery; Blum "Blumotion" drawer & door hardware (full extension drawers, everything soft close); Blum trash/recycling pullout (soft close...and soft open!); and a Rev-A-Shelf blind corner swing-out.

This dude is one of Chad The Cabinet Man's suppliers; he dropped in with his kids and father to take a look at the build.  Turns out, the father is thinking of having the Morgans build a beach home for him on Oak Island.

Master vanity base.  Wonderfully spacious.  There will be a centered upper cabinet too, but it won't go on until the granite is in place.

Guest bathroom vanity, also quite spacious (it's 6 ft wide).

We had to add 8" to the wall separating the master bedroom from the bathroom, because we would have had clearance issues between the door casing and the cabinet/countertop.  So the opening went from 48" (2 x 24" doors) to 40" (2 x 20" doors).

Here are the lengths of toe kick, crown molding, and light rail that will be installed on/around the cabinets.

Uppers from right to left...refrigerator pocket with cabinet above; microwave pocket with cabinet above; double stacked cabinet; range vent cabinet (the actual vent insert will be 18" x 40"); double stacked cabinet; corner double stacked cabinet; double stacked cabinet, and the double oven cabinet with drawer below and spacious cabinet above.  That's Chad on the ladder, btw.

Flooring extravaganza.

Interior and exterior flooring is going down at a rapid rate.  Siding ground to a halt after Saturday (02.08) due to snotty weather.

Screened porch floor started.

It's classic porch material - tongue & groove makes it so.

Can't wait to see the built-in bookshelves that'll go into that opening under the stairs.

Front porch is complete!  Well, except for trim out, that is.

The posts will be encased in 8" wide planks of MiraTEC, and collars will then be fastened top & bottom.  It'll be a nice chunky "shaker" look, in keeping with the style of the house.

This shit appeared earlier today (this is at the rental shack, not at the build site).  Supposed to be nasty for the next 2-3 days.  Hopefully by Friday the siding crew can get back at it.

Here's the master shower today (Friday, 02.07), and now it is grouted and cleaned up.

The garage doors arrived and were installed, as were the openers.  Doors are Amarr Carriage House Classica 2000 series, Northampton design with Nile windows, and Canterbury handles.  Openers are Overhead Door Legacy 800 belt drive.

The single door on the left is 8 ft x 8 ft; the double door on the right is 8 ft x 18 ft.  They're big'ns!

And here is one of the openers.  Fairly generic (Overhead Door Corp owns Genie), but according to Mark, very quiet and strong (DC motor w/belt drive).  10 year warranty, so it must be pretty tough.

Two slabs of White Ice are on reserve for the kitchen.

Electrical fixtures have taken up residence on an outside wall.

We're fairly certain that "Bracing Blue" (the bottom color) is the one we'll go with, but just to be sure I applied three samples (top to bottom: Sporty Blue; Storm Cloud; and Bracing Blue).  In this image they are still rather wet, and it was overcast.

Next day - dry, and sunny.
