Colors, colors, and more colors.

In the past several weeks, we have visited our granite supplier and reserved a few slabs for kitchen and guest bathroom; chosen all of the floor and accent tiles; selected paint colors (just last night!); and chose the front porch metal roof color.

Porch roof first.  Our siding will be a medium grayish-blue color (not yet finalized), white trim (and garage doors), and black shutters.  The "Driftwood" shingles are already covering the main roof.  So to go along with this mix, we selected Dove Gray from Metal Roofing Systems Inc. for the front porch standing seam metal roof.  It should coordinate very well with the other exterior colors, and it is "green" in that it has excellent ISR, Emissivity, and SRI numbers and is Energy Star and LEED 2009 compliant.  Those things probably don't matter since it is covering an exterior, unconditioned space, but still...it is sure to keep the front porch cool under the hot Carolina sun!

On to interior paint.  Our painter uses Sherwin-Williams products, which made us happy as we are very familiar with SW from the renovations we completed at our last home.  Great range of colors, high quality, and durable.

First color is SW 6001 Grayish.  This will be used in the drop zone, dinette/keeping room, kitchen, family room, bonus room, and right rear bedroom.

Next color is SW 6526 Icelandic.  This will be used in the dining room, foyer/hallway downstairs, staircase, upstairs hallway, left rear bedroom, guest bathroom, master bathroom, and CDE's writing closet.

Final wall color is SW 6162 Ancient Marble.  This will be used in the library, powder room, and master bedroom & closet.  This reminds us of a Valspar color we used & loved at the last house, called "Olive White".  It is really nice.

It should be noted that all interior ceilings will be the usual SW "super white" in flat finish, and all of the millwork and trim will be super white in gloss finish.

Finally, cabinetry colors.
In the kitchen, for the main "L" of cabinets, and also upstairs for the guest bathroom vanity, we chose SW 7004 Snowbound.  It is definitely a white, despite how your monitor may depict the image below!  It is not too stark or cool, and not too warm/creamy.  Keep in mind that our granite selection is light/white, a stone called "Ipanema White", which is light and will coordinate perfectly with this paint (as well as the backsplash tile and mosaic, which will be revealed at a later date!)

The kitchen island will be done up in SW 6241 Aleutian.  Wonderful color!

Last but not least is the master bathroom vanity, which is comprised of a very wide (117") set of base cabinets and includes a vertical unit centered between the sinks, above the counter.  These cabinets will be finished in SW 7051 Analytical Gray, which will work splendidly with the granite, floor tile, shower/tub deck tile, and accent mosaic (saving these for later too!)

We think that all of these colors are very complimentary of one another, and will create a very comfortable vibe in the home.  Painting crew will be priming as early as Friday 01.17 and no later than Monday 01.20, and then on to the two finish coats.  So, the interior walls should be complete in under two weeks!
